So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. PSALM 90:12 NKJV

I’m constantly torn between wanting to go to heaven and not wanting to leave earth right this minute. Of course I want to go eventually, but I’m not ready to leave because I’m having a great time here. Ideally, I’d like to go ahead and secure the plane ticket, but if we could make the departure date decades into the future, that would be great.

Do you think God is rolling His eyes yet? This is certainly an area of opportunity in my faith. My Nana’s headstone reads, “Don’t be sad, be glad for me.” That was one of the last things she told us before she went to heaven, and I pray I can live my life in a way that I’m ready to roll when the time comes and have done everything I could to make my time here on earth special.

Tell people you love them and that they matter to you. Love your family and put down your phone long enough to look into their eyes. Joyfully make an impact on your friends and your community. Don’t wait until later to do something you’ve always wanted to do. None of us knows when God will call us home, so the best thing we can do is live our lives to the fullest while we are here. You can’t give your life more time, so give the time you have left more life. Journal some things you want to do while here on earth, and then make a plan and make them happen!
